Our Mission

Ecocampus is a non-partisan, student-run organization devoted to environmental issues within the UIC community, as well as on the municipal, national, and global level. It is the mission of Ecocampus to create and/or preserve a community where people can live, learn, and work sustainably.

Our goals include, but are not limited to the following objectives:

  • Maintaining an efficient recycling program on campus
  • Conserving natural areas
  • Educating and building awareness about environmental problems in the community
  • Establishing administrative accountability
  • Demanding green technologies and capital developments on campus
  • Advocating responsible resource management
  • Ecocampus is also commited to upholding environmental justice.

We believe every living being has a right to clean air and water, as well as the right to be informed about environmentally ethical, economically feasible consumer alternatives. Promoting synergy between society and the natural environment is central to the Ecocampus philosophy. We welcome individuals from all disciplines and experiences.
